Two artworks that stood out to me were,
Empty Garden by Jinjoon Lee
And,
Lonesome Companion by Pete G. Donaldson
Firstly I looked at the artists background for Empty Garden to deepen my understanding for a academic writing piece.
Jinjoon Lee was born in South Korean, Masan in 1974. This meant he was brought into a world with more than harsh circumstances such as the on going protests for a democratic system, against the regime of the President, Park Chung-hee.
A major part in these protests were the female textile workers, working in Masans free export zone.
Now living in the uk,
He works with mixed media such as sculpture, photo, sound, video, instillation and architecture with a focus to explore the perception of utopian space ideology.
He emphasises the cross between past and present, or the real and the imagined.
